Out here in western Nebraska, with its wide-open prairie, we have all kinds of opportunities to put a compact rifle to use, so I wanted to build the smallest .223 rifle I could. This would be a do-everything rifle for home defense, coyote hunting, use as a truck rifle, and farm protection, to name a few of its main purposes.
It also needed to be affordable, so I started with a base rifle from Bear Creek Arsenal chambered in .223 Wylde. I added an adjustable pistol brace to make it super compact. Around the farm, a suppressor is a must. Lastly, I needed a scope that would allow me to acquire a target quickly while still being capable of ringing steel or dropping a coyote at 200 yards. That’s when I found the Sig Sauer Tango-MSR Compact Riflescope.
The Sig Sauer Tango-MSR Compact Riflescope was the perfect choice. It offers an amazing scope at a great price. One of the best features is that it comes with an Alpha-MSR Cantilevered Mount. The design is simple, and the mount is extremely reliable. My first experience with the scope was while prairie dog hunting here in western Nebraska. It was great for quickly getting on a prairie dog that had just popped out of its hole at 100 yards or less.

Let’s go through some of the specs and features of the Sig Sauer Tango-MSR Compact 1-6x24mm Riflescope.
The enhanced high-performance 6x optical system with low-dispersion glass provides excellent clarity. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to be this clear in a $400 scope. It’s as clear as some scopes that cost twice as much. Combine that clarity with an illuminated MSR BDC-6 reticle, and shooting steel or plinking becomes even more enjoyable. I’d also say this scope would be a great option for a budget-friendly 3-Gun build.
When I used it for prairie dog hunting, the lay-flat flip-back lens covers helped protect the glass in the windy, sandy environment. The removable throw lever also made it easier to zoom in and take a shot at those pesky squeakers.
Lastly, the scope has been nothing but dependable when tossed in the truck and taken down the road. It’s waterproof, shockproof, and fog-proof, all of which are must-have features in our climate, where it can be 80 degrees one day with 40 mph winds and then drop to 30 degrees the next.
All in all, I’m extremely impressed with both the performance of the Tango-MSR Compact 1-6x24mm Riflescope and its price, which is among the best in its category. Below, we’ll take a look at the riflescope and all its specifications.
