The Bergara BMR Carbon .22 LR

Squirrels, Rabbits, prairie dogs and even coyotes are the perfect prey for a .22 long rifle. The Bergara BMR Carbon .22 rifle is the perfect gun for any varmint hunt. When I received this rifle at my local dealer it even turned the heads of the store manager. Like most rimfire rifles they are usually used for more plinking than anything but with this one I wanted to put it to the test. With coyotes howling every night on the farm I know trying to harvest a coyote would be the perfect test.

With my predator call in hand and fresh snow on the grown it was the perfect conditions. I set up my first stand on a high spot overlooking a snow covered winter wheat field with a big canyon in the distance. I extended the Caldwell Bipod that I attached to Bergara BMR and turned the Foxpro to Jack Rabbit Distress. After the call had been on for about 5-7 minutes I could see a coyote coming into the call from the distance. I had sighted in the rifle at 100 Yards, but I knew it could shoot further. Topped with a Blackhound Evolve 4-18×50 scope, which was way overkill, made it easier to see anything at long distances. The coyote closed the distance to about 150 yards and started to work the parameter. So I steadied the crosshairs and shot hitting the coyote broadside. The coyote started to spin and I reloaded and shot and hit the coyote again. He dropped to the snow. I loaded one more round and squeezed off a round directly into the head. That was it for the coyote.

I had never hunted coyotes with a .22 before but I have now and I was extremely impressed with the results. A well placed shot with the right round can do wonders.
